Joe Biden Impeachment Coming
The elephant in the 2022 midterm elections is the inevitable impeachment of Joe Biden. Nobody is talking about this, yet.
If Donald Trump got impeached twice over non-existent Russian collusion and then over a phone call with Ukraine, you can only imagine the charges that will get leveled at Biden. Begin with the botched exit from Afghanistan and the loss of $80 billion in arms there.
Then investigate the Hunter Biden laptop and see what happens.
The Republicans are completely mum on impeachment, fearful that it might activate real Biden-supporters and contribute a talking point to the Democratic-party dominated media. And if they cannot re-take the House of Representatives this year, it’s academic anyway.
The Democrats cannot claim the Republicans will impeach Biden because the Dems would get accused of being paranoid and “fear mongering.” They do not want to draw attention to impeachment, either.
So we have a Mexican standoff, with a slight advantage going to the Republicans. As we get closer to the election, one of the big media outlets is going to have to drop this bomb into the public domain. For it to be effective, the bomb should be dropped by the New York Times or the Washington Post.
But there is a quandary there too. To present the idea you must present actual and impeachable Biden missteps. This is a faux pas for a media that is covering up for every Biden gaffe and folly.
The other side of the coin is the faction within the Democratic Party that does not want Joe to run in 2024. They do not mind pointing out Biden’s flaws, but not to the point of getting him impeached. So another dimension of thinking creeps into the picture.
This anti-Joe faction can let the Republicans impeach him because it will go nowhere in the Senate. You need 75 senators to vote to remove him from office. That that sort of solidarity is not in our near future. But it might send a message to Biden to give up on 2024.
Letting the Republicans impeach Biden in the House would anger most Democrat voters, who would see it as a quid pro quo for impeaching Trump. This might result in a boon for future Democrat candidates.
The Republicans know this and may drop the matter of impeachment altogether. Although after watching Nancy Pelosi go ahead with two time-wasting and futile impeachments for political points, they may see some benefit in the opportunity for the same reason.
Then there is the insurance policy: Kamala Harris.
If you think Joe Biden is an idiot, you have to admire the way he managed to get a serious imbecile on the ticket as his VP. It was genius from the beginning, promising to put a woman in the office early on, then promising a person of color. That gave him a very limited number to choose from and he picked the only one who had run for president.
Exactly why Kamala Harris was running for president in the first place needs some reexamination. But, no matter; there she was. Disliked as a presidential candidate, the perfect impeachment insurance policy. Nobody wants her as president and they’d have to impeach her, too. It’s beautiful.
But what if the counter-play is to impeach Joe before 2024 and let Kamala run things long enough to sink the Democratic Party? The risk is twofold. One, she would get us all killed. Two, she would do a good job.
It doesn’t matter, as the 75 vote Senate threshold is too daunting. And yet, Kamala continues to be the insurance policy against any 25th amendment ploys. Double indemnity.
So what will happen will be a futile impeachment of Biden as a reminder that both parties can play games. The Democrats can be oh-so outraged and the Republicans sanctimonious and serious. It should be entertaining.
Meanwhile, everyone is hush-hush, not wanting to spoil the surprise. — jcd
