The history of subversive ideologies in the United States is long and continues to this day. In the modern era, it's exemplified by Marxist concepts that always call for the end of Capitalism as an economic system of choice. It also promotes the dissolution of the nuclear family.
No economic and governance system besides Capitalism (as part of a Republic) has ever been effective for any lengthy period. And yet, Capitalism is the root of all evil say many progressive Democrats, the Democrat-Socialists, ANTIFA, Black Lives Matter and a host of organizations including, it seems, the World Economic Forum and its supporters.
The tight connection between these groups, the United Nations, the W.H.O., the One World Government blowhards in the form of Globalists and Internationalists, and the population control freaks, is not overstated.
What’s missing from this array of organizations and individuals are traditional control and blocking mechanisms. In the United States, that mechanism was once the House Committee on Un-American Activities, known as HUAC.
This operation began in 1938 to halt the influence of Soviet-sponsored Communism as an ideology designed to overthrow the US Government and its capitalist under-pinnings. The Soviet replacement would be a state controlled economy and Marxist governance.
Being an actual “card carrying” Communist during the Great Depression was a badge of honor in many intellectual circles in the 1930s. It was finally realized in 1938 – late in the game – that this was not healthy for the country.
HUAC operated from 1938 until 1975. And yet, creeping Marxism never stopped and continues to grow. A good run down of HUAC history is here. Today, basic anti-American subversion combine with various hate movements, which are often based on flimsy premises or single terrible incidents that get generalized as if they are representative of the culture as a whole. They somehow “prove” that the United States is defective and should get changed or abandoned.
This systemic anti-Americanism is as un-American as can be. It's time to consider bringing back HUAC. First of all, most of the documented abuses of HUAC were studied and are preventable. And even the abuses, which included the Hollywood blacklist, were over-rated, by today's standards. I recall all the protests over HUAC that played on the nightly news. It was always nihilistic beatniks who did much of the protesting.
Much of the media sympathy was on the side of those accused by the committee of being Communists or Communist sympathizers.
The then-disliked Richard Nixon was a grandstander when he was with the committee and used it to ferret out suspected communist Algier Hiss, whom the media and pundit class of the era felt was an innocent victim of Nixon.
And like today, when a Republican leader has anything to say about something, he is immediately rebuked. The opposite opinion becomes popular. Hiss was accused of spying for Russia during the 30s when he worked in the Roosevelt administration.
Nixon, condemned for decades over the Algier Hiss accusations, was somewhat absolved when the KGB dissolved after the fall of the Soviet Union. In various released KGB documents, it seemed clear that Hiss worked on behalf of Russia during the 1930s. This contradicted the testimony of Russian officials and the issue was never cleared up. Hiss spent his time working at various large New York law firms in later years and denied the accusations to the end.
A new HUAC could restart with better checks and balances to ferret out legitimate anti-American activities that are harmful to our society, businesses, and children. In fact, the Chinese have agents all over the country that need to be sought out and removed. Core curricula in elementary schools needs examination for subversive teachings. This is of key importance. The adage that a nation cannot survive if its children are taught to hate it means more today than ever.
